Is Kilian Princess Discontinued? Everything You Need To Know Plus An Honest Review
A few months ago, I would have said HELL NO to sweet gourmand fragrances. Then I got introduced to Kilian Love Don’t Be Shy, a fragrance worn by Rihanna before launching her Fenty perfume. Kilian Love, Don’t Be Shy made me realize that smelling like sweets can be quite pleasant.
This later lead me to try Kilian I Don’t Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess perfume (we’ll just call it Princess)— another warm & sweet gourmand fragrance from the niche fragrance house.
*Record Scratch* Is Kilian Princess Perfume discontinued?
I read in a Reddit thread that Kilian confirmed via Jackie Aina‘s Instagram that Kilian Princess Pe r fume was discontinued everywhere except Russia. However, as of March 2022, Kilian confirmed via my Instagram DM’s that Kilian Princess and the entire My Kind of Love Collection are NOT discontinued. The collection is being redesigned, but due to stocks issues, the brand can’t put a definite date on the relaunch. Check out their DM below.
With that said, if you see Kilian Princess randomly restock, buy it without hesitation. My recommendation is to request email notifications on Sephora’s website for when (and if) the fragrance restocks. You can get notified by clicking here, selecting the size you’d want, and selecting “Email me when in stock” on the product page.
Pro-Tip: The travel size restocks more often than the full sizes. Your chances of grabbing a mini size are much higher.

Kilian describes this scent as unisex/genderless. However, it’s evident that Princess was created with feminity in mind. Someone who may want but also doesn’t need a man. She’s secure in herself. She’s spicy yet sweet and gets a kick out of men fighting for her attention (though she’s never impressed).

My Thoughts: Is Kilian Princess Eau De Parfume Worth The Hype?
I love this scent (an understatement). The marshmallow notes make it somewhat of a hyper-feminine scent (kind of like Prada Candy), but the touches of ginger and green tea do a great job of calming down the sweetness. Kilian’s Princess was a blind buy for me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect from the fragrance, but it did not disappoint. I’ve already purchased my second bottle, and I’m waiting patiently for a restock or relaunch to get a third. Princess is signature status for sure.
Packaging/Bottle
As you can see, the box of the Kilian Princess perfume is a play on the actual bottle. The inverted bottle is unique. At the top rounded part, you’ll find the perfume. The base is the cap of the fragrance. My first instinct was that the nature of the perfume bottle would cause it to leak down through the “cap” (since it sits upside down essentially), but I haven’t experienced that.
The Scent and My Body Chemistry
As far as the scent goes, when I first spray the perfume, I get a kick of ginger, but when it dries down, the marshmallow swoops in to soften the ginger notes. I can’t say that I really pick up the green tea notes a ton. If you find Kilian, Love Don’t Be Shy to be overly sweet, Princess is a good alternative that incorporates marshmallows without smelling like a candy shop.
Does Kilian Princess perfume scent last long?
The one thing I didn’t quite enjoy about Kilian Princess is that it didn’t last long, IMO. The first time I wore this perfume, I overdid the sprays, putting some in my hair (wig) and clothes. I don’t find it to be an all-day fragrance on the skin alone. This is a perfume that you want to layer with another scent or apply vaseline at your pulse points to make it last longer. May I also add that I finished a whole 1.7-ounce bottle within a few months, which never happens? I attribute that to how often I wore the fragrance and that I have to spray a ton for it last on me.
Pro-Tip: To make your perfume last longer, apply Vaseline at your pulse points before spraying the perfume. The vaseline will act as a magnet for the perfume to cling onto and linger longer throughout the day.

These Bath & Body Works Candles Smell Luxurious AF
If you’ve never owned a Bath & Body Works 3-wick candle, first let me ask, is everything okay? Second, let me just tell you you can never go wrong with these candles. For starters, they go on sale at least twice a year, and they have some great scent profiles that can fill up a room (especially if you opt for the 3-wick candles, which I recommend).
The next candle sale for the year (2022) is likely to be sometime in early December. Based on past candle sales, they’ll likely be priced under $12. Follow me on Twitter so I can notify you!
Also, remember, when burning candles, it’s essential to trim the wick to get the best, soot-free burn possible (here’s my favorite wick trimmer). It also wouldn’t hurt to get a rechargeable electric lighter (you can find one for cheap on Amazon).

[REVIEW] TikTok Girls Said Outre Melted Hairline Wigs Are That Girl And…
In this edition of “TikTok made me buy it,” we have Outre’s Melted Hairline Lace Front Wig HD in style “Jenni.” Once upon a time, synthetic wigs gave old-er church lady vibes (why so shiny yet stiff?). However, today’s synthetic wigs are giving human lace wigs a run for their money. Outre’s Melted Hairline HD wigs are one of the more popular lines of HD synthetic, according to some of the wig wizards on the innanet. Of course, I had to try it out for myself to give y’all the tea. Did I mention this wig starts at $35 (prices vary based on color)?

I applied this synthetic wig using Bold Hold Liquid Gold as my adhesive. To flatten the top of the wig (surrounding the part) I used She Is Bomb Collection Wax Stick and an electric hot comb. To curl the front of the wig just a bit more, I used T3 Micro Hot Rollers. This helped the Jenni wig look a bit more curled in the front than it comes out of the pack. As I mentioned earlier,Outre’s Melted Hairline collection generally withstands up to 400 degrees in heat.
Does the wig tangle or shed?

I wore the Outre Melted Hairline “Jenni” “wig five times for at least 5 hours each (and once while biking with a helmet on—that’s how dedicated I was to see what this wig had to offer). The tangling was minimal. For the hair to be so full, it doesn’t tangle nearly as much as I expected it to. It tangled a bit more than a human hair wig but not to the point of knotting up. To detangle, I brushed it with a Felecia Leatherwood detangling hairbrush.
Jenni wig styled with T3 Micro Hot Rollers. This is after a couple of wears, so the wig needed a shampoo.
There was some shedding but not a ton. The shedding is more than likely coming from cutting the lace and manipulating the parting, which wig wearers know is bound to happen when you’re dealing with lace.

I can’t speak for the wholeOutre’s Melted Hairline HD Lace Front Collection, however, you can wash Jenni. I filled my bathroom sink with cool water and SheaMoisture Wig & Weave Residue Remover Shampoo for Human and Synthetic Hair and dunked the wig in, repeating until the water came back clear. I skipped conditioner since it’s synthetic ( I don’t find that necessary or beneficial for synthetic wigs).
IsOutre’s Melted Hairline HD Lace Front Wig in the style “Jenni”worth buying?

With no hesitation, I must say yes. For starters, this particular style is soft, effortless, and pretty. The wig’s layers are cut perfectly, though I did consider cutting it a bit more in the front. It reminds me of a Dominican blowout done on coarse hair (the fibers on the wig are kinky/yaki textured). If you’ve been looking for a reason to try Amazon Wigs, let this blog post be your sign to pull the trigger.
While the lace is decent for a synthetic, I still needed to add a powder foundation to make the lace match with my skin (Try: FENTY Pro Fil’tr Powder Foundation, Sephora Microblur Powder). I love that I can wear it pre-styled or curl it to get it a bit more defined.

If A Girls Trip To The Poconos Was A Perfume…
Most recently, I found myself on the fragrance side of Instagram and TikTok. After stumbling upon amazing fragrance pages such as @BlackGirlsSmellGood, I’ve found myself even more invested in uncovering new (to me) fragrances and adding new scents to my collection. The latest addition being Replica By the Fireplace Eau de Toilette by Maison Margiela.

If you’re not familiar with Replica Maison Margiela, let me start by saying this is a collection of luxury fragrances. The perfumes typically range from $30 (for travel size) to $135 (a 3.4 full-sized bottle). The hype behind Replica by Maison Margiela is the brand’s commitment to replicating places and moments in time by creating scents inspired by them, transporting you there through smell.
The label of each fragrance gives a complete description of the time, place, and memory that the scent is meant to evoke. As you may have already guessed, By The Fireplace emulates just that—but more explicitly burning wood and chestnuts.

My Thoughts
Generally speaking, I’m not into woody or gourmand (sweet edible fragrance), and Replica By The Fireplace is both in one. I typically love florals and fresh fragrances. I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I likeReplica By The Fireplace. It’s a bit earthy when you first catch a whiff of the scent, but it dries down to be sweet, light, and pleasant.
The woody notes make it feel made for the Fall and Winter. If I had to describe the scent as a place, I’d have to say it takes me to a weekend girl’s trip to the Poconos that involves lots of sweet treats and champagne. It also reminds me of the holiday season in Manhattan. Think of smelling fresh-cut Christmas trees and roasted candied nuts from the street vendors.
Sidenote: I also love how this layers with Fenty Eau De Parfum (review here).
Does the Fragrance Last?
Quite honestly, for an eau de toilette (less perfume oil than Eau de parfum), I must say that the fragrance lasts for a decent amount of time (5 hours, give or take). I, of course, spray on pulse points but I also enjoy just lightly spritzing whatever top I have on.
Is Replica By The Fireplace for men or women?
It’s for whoever chooses to wear it. However, the fragrance is a true unisex scent. I don’t find it to lean more masculine than feminine or vice versa.
Is By The Fireplace worth buying?
Replica By The Fireplace is indeed a unique scent, and I’m happy I added it to my collection. I don’t see myself wearing this during the spring or the summer. However, the fragrance indeed makes me want to book a quick fall getaway somewhere by the fireplace. Mission accomplished.

Veja may not be on many people’s radar, but you likely won’t be disappointed with the quality of these sneakers. They’re higher priced than your average sneaker brand, but the high-quality materials justify that. According to reviewers, this particular Veja style runs a bit small but is overall pretty comfy for wider feet, FYI.

Long before Rihanna dropped FENTY Eau De Parfum, it was rumored that her perfume of choice was Love, Don’t Be Shy from luxury fragrance house Kilian Paris. If you haven’t smelled this fragrance, let me be the one to tell you that the scent is absolutely divine. It’s expensive as hell (around $195 for a travel set), but I can see why Rihanna would be a fan.
While Kilian Love, Don’t Be Shy and FENTY Eau De parfum both have sweet elements, I don’t find them similar at all. But why would Rihanna copy and paste a perfume in the first place? Duh. Love, Don’t Be Shy is much sweeter, intense scent. FENTY Eau de parfum has a unique fragrance profile with some earthy and woody elements but dries down soft and sweet with a slightly musky undertone. According to the brand, it creates a unique scent for everyone based on their body chemistry.This is a good time to mention that the fragrance is unisex, in case you were wondering.

Thoughts on FENTY Eau De Parfum (shop here)
Let me lead by saying that the FENTY fragrance smells great in my opinion and unique. I can’t reference one perfume that smells identical to it. When I first sprayed the scent, it came off somewhat masculine and very intense, but once it dries down, the fragrance is subtle—with my body chemistry, it has a great balance of sweetness and musky. It pairs really well with sweeter fragrances (especially those with hints of vanilla-like NEST Madagascar Vanilla Perfume Oil). The scent feels luxurious and sultry (major rich bitch vibes), and the warm amber glass bottle is absolutely stunning.
I recently discovered that I’m one of those people who sometimes don’t smell perfume on themselves. Initially, I thought this fragrance didn’t last, but apparently, it smells amazing, according to the compliments I’ve gotten while testing it out. Rihanna and her team recommend spraying directly to the chest to get the most out of the fragrance (they’re not wrong). Of course, you should apply to your pulse points (wrists, behind elbows, behind knees, lower throat, and behind ears) as you would any other perfume.

Additionally, I love spraying this fragrance in my hair (wigs, not my natural hair). I can’t explain it, but this scent smells particularly good in my hair compared to some of my most loved fragrances. Personally, when Fenty hair care becomes a thing, I wouldn’t mind it if the Fenty Eau de Parfum scent was the fragrance for the products. Rihanna, if this perfume launch was you checking the temperature for Fenty Haircare, your secret is safe with me.
For my chemistry FENTY Eau de Parfum indeed smells really good, but it wasn’t necessarily what I imagined in a fragrance from FENTY. While I don’t think it will be my signature scent (I’m still exploring that), I don’t regret buying it and adding it to my growing collection. FENTY Eau De Parfum is not a crowdpleaser but those who are open to indulging in something outside of their comfort zone truly enjoy this perfume. I’ve literally have had strangers tell me how good this perfume smells on me even though they think it smells horrible on them—that goes to show that it truly pulls on body chemistry.

Morphe Tapped Into Black Women In Beauty For Their “Filter Effect Foundation” Launch

Once upon a time, Morphe was a key player in my life as far as makeup is concerned. As a broke beauty enthusiast, Morphe always held your girl down, dropping products that fit my budget while offering the quality of prestige makeup that I couldn’t afford. From visiting the Morphe store in Los Angeles to waiting on long ass lines at IMATS to get deals at their booth, it’s safe to say your girl stanned the hell out of Morphe at a point in time.
Why I stopped buying Morphe
In the most recent years, Morphe completely lost me as a fan by repeatedly aligning themselves with problematic brands and Influencers such as Jeffree Star, Nakita Dragun, and Laura Lee. A long story short, I haven’t been checking for Morphe until their most recent launch—The Morphe Filter Effect Soft Focus Foundation in which the brand tapped into some of my fav Black Beauty Gurus to launch.
What drew me to this Morphe launch?
When Morphe announced that they were launching this new skin-like foundation with MakeupShayla as the face and makeup artist Danessa Myricks as the creative director and photographer, it caught my attention immediately. I’m trying to be on the right side of “cancel culture”, so instead of automatically assuming the brand was pandering to the Black community, I decided to embrace the launch and hope their intentions are pure (FYI, I’m playing you hella close from this day forth, Morphe).

What does the Morphe Filter Effect Soft Focus Foundation claim to do?

I often try foundations more than once when writing reviews mainly because first impressions can often be faulty. Also, I initially used a concealer that I honestly don’t think I like very much and needed to make sure that I was judging the foundation based on its actual performance and not other products I used with it.
With that being said, I reccomend using other complexion products like concealers and powders with this foundation only if they give off skin-like finishes and natural coverage as well. Otherwise, it may leave your face looking a hot mess.
Some of my favorite concealers (that work well with Morphe Filter Effect Soft-Focus) are:
- Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Contour Stic k (technically a contour stick but works as a concealer if you have a light enough shade)
- NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer
- PAT McGRATH LABS – Sublime Perfection Concealer
The verdict
I can’t lie, several points were made with Morphe Filter Effect Soft-Focus Foundation. While it isn’t (in my opinion) truly long-wearing, sweat-proof, or transfer-proof, it looks SUPER natural. Even when you build up the foundation it looks and feels like skin (probably due to the formula including key skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin E). Though it transfers from my experience (especially while wearing a mask), my skin still looked flawless by the end of the night.
It’s clear that this formula isn’t meant to be a full-coverage, cover all of your flaws type of foundation. It seems nearly impossible to cake up this product—if you want a skin-like finish you can’t go wrong with Morphe Filter Effect Soft-Focus especially for only $20.
I’m going to end this by saying. if Morphe wants to show they’re truly working to be inclusive they need to continue including Black women behind the scenes and in other facets of their business. Also, Morphe girl, just stay away from the problematics. I need this energy all the time or not at all.

The Best Home Products I Found on Amazon (but, seriously)

Like most people these days, I often fall into a rabbit hole looking for the best products to solve my third world problems. Since I moved out of my momma’s house back in Summer 2020, I’ve been on the hunt for things to both spruce up and make my life at home easier. And of course, I’ve come across some amazing home items on Amazon that I HAVE to share.

From electric lighters to rotating makeup organizers, here are some of the best Amazon Home Products that I’ve discovered.
1. FRUITEAM Electric Spin Scrubber, 360 Cordless, $75.99 (click for sale price)
I may be only 20-something but getting down to scrub the tub, shower walls, or even tough spots on the floor wears me out. This electric, wireless scrub brush does all the work to get home squeaky clean.
Sidebar: My roommate and I have a professional cleaner come every so often for a deep clean, and she absolutely stans this brush.
2.Rechargeable Electric Arc Lighter with 360° Flexible Neck, $12.99
If you follow me on the ‘gram, you’re either sick of me lighting my candles every morning or my story or are thoroughly intrigued with this flameless lighter. As someone who is always burning something in the house whether it be candles, incense, or blunts, this lighter is easily the most useful Amazon home product I’ve purchased.
No more running out of lighters unexpectedly!
3. WICKMAN Wick Trimmer with Gold Finish, $8.95
Speaking of candles, this wick trimmer is an essential Amazon home product if you’re an avid candle burner. Truth is in order to preserve the scent and burn quality of your candles, you should be trimming your wick before every use. In addition to getting your coins worth from your candles, this gold-finish wick trimmer is def giving the girls “bad bitchery”.
4. Sonkir Soil pH +Moisture Meter, $10.19
I love being a plant mom but I don’t quite love sticking my manicured fingertips in the soil to check for moisture. This meter tells you the condition of your plant baby’s soil ranging from dry to wet. YOU NEED this!
5. IMEEA Gold Mini Watering Can, $18.98
You also deserve to parent your plants in style so pick with this super cute watering can. It’s small which probably makes it suitable for someone who doesn’t have a ton of plants.
I currently have 9 plants and love this size bc it helps me keep track of how much water I’m giving each individual plant
6. Wixann Smart WiFi LED Light Bulb, $14.99
These lights, which you control from an app on your phone, may make me sound lazy but trust me, there’s methods to my madness. I love to read before bed but once I get sleepy, I don’t feel like turning off the light, with these bulbs I can do it straight from my phone.
I also want to try programming them to turn on when I should be in the AM so the light can annoy me out of my deep sleep (update: It worked!)
7. Coyaho 360° Rotating Makeup Organizer, $14.99
I’ve been working in the beauty industry forever, which means I’m somewhat of a product junkie. I hate the cluttered look of products sitting on a shelf or my dresser so this organizer makes my go-to products less of an eyesore.

Can We Talk About Fenty Beauty’s Powder Foundation Real Quick?

With that being said, myself and my sebaceous glands were ecstatic when our fave (Rih) announced the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation. I was lucky enough to have been gifted the product and here are my honest thoughts and a few tidbits if you’re new to powder foundation.

What’s the difference between powder foundation, pressed powder, and loose powder?
Powder Foundation: Meant to replace a “traditional” liquid foundation entirely but in some cases can be used in combination. Usually comes in a pressed compact but on occasion is available in loose powder form. Ranges in coverage.
Example: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation (of course). Also, Clinique Beyond Perfecting (one of my long-time favorite powder foundations).

Pressed (Setting) Powder: Designed to lock in makeup + keep it from shifting while controlling shine throughout the day. Great on the go for minimizing shine that may come about. Typically sheer to medium coverage.
Example: NARS – Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder

Loose Powder: Finely milled powder that is very similar to Setting Powder in regards to locking in your makeup. Most commonly used for under-eye baking to minimize concealer creasing. Typically transparent or very sheer in coverage.
Example: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation can be used alone as a foundation, with a liquid foundation (to add more coverage) or for makeup touch-ups (i.e. fixing your makeup after putting a mask on and off during the course of the day). Speaking of masks, I experienced very little transfer when wearing this powder foundation with a disposable mask.

In my opinion, the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation applies much better than the original Matte Liquid Formula which has a tendency to dry down really fast. With this powder, you can move at your own pace.
The Verdict

We got another one, Rih! I’ve long been a fan of powder foundation since my time working as a Clinique Beauty consultant (circa 2012). My skin strays toward oily—there’s something about when my natural oils and powder foundation link up that’s absolutely magical. For the sake of this review, I went for a full-coverage and the product delivered. No dark spots formed against this powder shall prosper.

Though the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Powder Foundation is indeed a powder, it’s by no means dry, especially after hitting it with a bit of setting spray. If you have dry skin and wish to try it out, I recommend hydrating tf out of your skin before applying (as you should already be doing that regardless) and using a setting spray after.
FYI: I’m shade 420 in all Fenty Beauty complexion products so shoutouts to them for being consistent!
Mika’s Pro-Tips
- Want more coverage? Opt for a dense brush.
- Less coverage? Use a fluffy powder brush.
- Apply primer as you would normally. I used Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer.
- Don’t forget to use a setting spray between layering on the powder to help it melt into your skin and look natural.
- I prefer applying my powder foundation before my concealer but do whatever feels right
