As a member of #xoTribe I serve as an ambassador for xoNecole, formerly Necole Bitchie. I wanted to be a part of xoTRiBE because of what xoNecole stands for. The mission of xoNecole is “to promote positive images of woman of color, as well as empower, educate, and inspire millennials through beauty, fashion, lifestyle, career and travel features”.
It takes a special kind of person to totally shut down a popular celebrity entertainment blog like NecoleBitchie.com (bringing in millions of views daily) to start fresh for the sake of bettering others. As a teen I would log on to NecoleBitchie.com everyday, multiple times of the day to get my daily dose of entertainment tea and now to see xoNecole blossom (at the most perfect time in my life may I add) is motivational on so many levels. I think I can say on behalf of many young women like myself that it is refreshing to have a space on the web to bring some positivity in our lives and shed some light on our everyday battles.
When I applied to be an ambassador of xoNecole and became a part of her journey, I never thought it would land me at the xoNecole Launch Event in NYC! It was AMAZING! To see Necole just so happy and everyone celebrating with her the launch of her rebranding was literally a life changing moment.
There were so many great women in the room that I admire such as Yandy Smith, Demetria Lucas, Angela Lee, Tatiana Ward, and of course Necole herself. Seeing all these amazing women that inspire me personally having such positive energy and supporting one another just touched me in a special place. THIS is the kind of love that we as women need to give one another on a daily basis.
This experience made me feel like I could do anything that I put my mind to it (cliche, I know), no matter how impossible it may seem. It made me feel like the “dream” that I’m chasing can in fact be a reality if I work diligently and have the right people around me. Necole has been blessed not only with talent and the drive that has gotten her this far in her career but also with people who have her back every step of the way. Though there were times in her career that she felt very alone, she attributes much of her success to the people that motivated her to continue on.
I’m happy to have the opportunity to be a part of such a powerful movement and I’m very excited for all that is in store. And my fellow xoTRiBE member’s that I had the chance to meet were some incredibly amazing and beautiful young women!
