I can’t believe I’m saying this but *clap clap* to Ms. Rih Rhi. Though I usually give her a side eye, I do give credit where credit is due. Rihanna’s name for the most part is always a topic of discussion (usually because of her outfits, antics and other rude gyal behavior) but over the years her name has also been all over MAC Cosmetics.
Rihanna has been an endorser a couple of MAC’s VIVA GLAM collections, a part of MAC AIDS FUND. All proceeds (100%!) of VIVA GLAM goes to help those living with and affected by AIDS/HIV. The organization came about at a time where many people, in the fashion industry especially, were lost due to the pandemic (at the time, in 1994). I can say Rihanna get’s on my last nerve time and time again but it is really refreshing to see her name next to something extremely positive.
In an industry that seem to be both loved and hated, it’s always nice to see a portion of their BIG profits make an impact. Thanks to all the hype surrounding Rihanna, she is able to use her influence for the greater good rather than to end up the talk of the entertainment blogs (well, in this instant at least). Her participation in this campaign has definitely helped drive sales for the cause. Over the past 20 years MAC AIDS FUND has raised over $350 Million! Outstanding collaborations for the stars and one of pop cultures fav. make-up brands.
MAC’s HIV/AIDs Documentary It’s Not Over is now available on Netflix and I def. will be checking it out!
What has been some of you all favorite VIVA GLAM collaborations/collections?
