“WHEN IN MAKEUP HEAVEN, SLAY FOR THE GAWDS BIH”
Everytime,I tell myself I’m sticking to a particular budget, one of my favorite makeup brands pulls a stunt like this. This past weekend, NYX opened a new
palace flagship location in the Union Square area of NYC and it’s literally a dream. Luckily enough for me, I’ve lowered my dining out budget and up-ed my “self-care budget” for the month just to prepare for this weekend. Sometimes a girls gotta do what she’s gotta do. Feel me?
NYX is a pretty popular and well-loved brand that can be easily found in your nearest drug store/pharmacy or the beloved Targee (Target pronounced the bougie way) but having a full store with a much wider range of selections is a DREAM come true for any inner city makeup lover. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to hood hop from store to store to find a specific product to no avail. Honestly, what’s better than having the option of going straight to the source? I’ll wait.
I’m absolutely stoked about NYX opening this store in the city, is because I’m BIG on trying things out before I purchase them. Testers are a God send, assuming your using safe practices of course. I love the feeling of knowing I walked out of a store with something that I absolutely love. Because, let’s be completely honest, 9 times out of 10 I’m either too busy or too lazy to make returns.

How was it?
2 words. BOMB AF…not two words but you get where I’m going here. In general, I’m totally into stand alone makeup stores vs department store counters with overbearing makeup counter ladies (sounds crazy considering my start in the beauty industry was through a Clinique in Macy’s). It’s just a totally different independent kind of shopping experience.
There was already a NYX store in Brooklyn, but as a Manhattan girl that has been recently transplanted somewhere in Brooklyn, any chance that I get to make my way to “The City” (Brooklynites and other non Manhattan dweller’s term for Manhattan), I’m on it!
What did I purchase you ask?
I would like to say I was on my best behavior. My main objective was to get a few items that I could add into my freelance kit and of course to play around just a bit.
- 4 glitters (very popular and hard to find)
- Blending Sponge
- Matte Finishing Spray
- Control Freak Brow Gel
- Color Mascara (Purple)
- NYX Liquid Suede in Alien (very popular)
- Nude Eyeshadow Single
- Wicked False Lashes
- NYX mini Makeup Train
- Butter Lip Gloss Trio
- NYX Cosmetic Bag AND tote
- NYX Selfie Stick
- NYX Eyeshadow + Lip Gloss Mini Kit
I think I did good to spend $75. Building a freelance kit ain’t cheap my dears.
Check out NYX new Union Square location when ever you have a few
minutes hours. I promise you’ll have a blast. NYX is a great brand if you want quality cosmetics that won’t drain your pockets.
